Woodcraft
In the heart of Upper Egypt, just 30 km from the ancient wonders of Luxor, lies one of the country's oldest villages: Hagaza. It was here, in 1940, that two passionate French pioneers established a school to teach the art of woodcraft to locals. This foundational project transformed Hagaza into a renowned center for handmade woodcraft. Today, skilled artisans carry on this tradition, creating unique pieces from Sarsou wood, a local and exceptionally hard timber. Each item you see represents more than just craftsmanship; it's the continuation of a legacy. This project has empowered generations of artisans, providing them with a sustainable income and the means to build a better future for their families.
